The TA Girls Basketball team rallied from an 8-point deficit in the first half and beat the McAuley Lions 37-34. In a night where both offenses struggled to find a rhythm, it was the Thornton Academy defense that turned the game around. Led by relentless defense, TA outscored McAuley 25-14 in the second half. Ashley Howe led the scoring with 13 (all in the 2nd half), followed by Victoria Lux with 8 (9 reb, 5 blocks). It was an outstanding team effort!
While we were excited about the victory, the entire Thornton Academy Girls Basketball program was overwhelmed by the outpouring of support for Hoops For Hayley. We are happy to announce that we raised over $4000 last night! Wow! Thank you to all of our fans who came out to support this great cause. It made for a great atmosphere for the players, and showed how special this community really is. In addition, we want to give a special thank you to the Catherine McAuley girls basketball team for their donation to the cause. This speaks volume to the character of the girls on the team and reminds us all that we're all in this together.
Hayley and her family watched every second of the game online and her parents, Mike and Allison posted this on Facebook...
